the 2002
Alternative
Press Expo

This Saturday February 9th, you and your friends are cordially invited to sneak a peek at the 2002 Alternative Press Expo at Fort Mason in San Francisco.

Last year, this Expo attracted over 2,700 attendees. It was the largest small press, alternative, and self-published comics show in the country.

You don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to. People are typically very polite and well-behaved. There are even parties afterwards, with alcohol and girls! But you have to eavesdrop on other people's conversations to figure out when and where they're taking place.

Programming includes this panel before a live audience:

ONLINE COMICS: TELLING STORIES ON THE WEB
“Join us as we look at some of the finest comics and storytelling online. Moderator Charles Brownstein talks to Scott McCloud, Patrick Farley, Tristan Farnon, Derek Kirk, and Justine Shaw about their work and the world of online comics.”
WHEN: February 9th at 5:00pm. Early arrival is suggested.

WHERE: Room C260, in Building C, directly across the street from Herbst Pavilion where the APE Exhibit Hall is located.

Room C260 is on the second floor of Building C. Please use the side entrance to Building C and follow the signs.

Tristan will likely offer a brief, insightful overhead slideshow presentation which explains in layman's terms how to bend toys and take pictures of them.

The Expo takes place in the Herbst Pavilion February 9 and 10, Saturday from noon to 6pm, Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

Admission is $6 for one day, $10 for a two-day pass.
